EPA National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (40 CFR 61, Part M) – requires that property owners know the full extent of asbestos in their buildings and take appropriate action to limit its exposure prior to the start of any renovation or demolition

 

OSHA regulation 29 (CFR 1910) – requires that property owners monitor the condition of any asbestos in their buildings and take appropriate action to limit its exposure to their tenants and/or employees

HUD Lead Safe Housing Regulation – requires that all federally-assisted housing, and housing sold by the federal government, be free of lead-based paint to ensure that children are adequately protected from lead poisoning

 

Washington State Department of Commerce – Lead-Based Paint Program – links to Washington state laws governing lead abatement professionals, contractos and painters, lead abatement training providers and other federal regulations.
